LESSON 1. “I HAVE TO HAVE FRIENDS”
Objective: To present review and practice quantifiers.
1. Vocabulary: Verbs + nouns collocations.
There are three possible collocations:
Make: friends, money, plans, food, decisions, a mistake, noise.
Get: a job. A visa, bored, home, lost, permission
Have: a job, friends, money, a visa, a problem, homework
Do: homework, a job, nothing, a favor, your best.
Find. A job, friends, money, time, the answer, a way

2. Grammar: Quantifiers
We use much, manya and a lot to talk about large quantity. We use a few and a little to talk about small quatity. Many and a few are used with countable nouns. Much and little are used with uncountable. A lot is used with both.
Examples:
Countable:
Affirmative:
She bought a few/a lot of CD’s
Negative:
There aren’t many/ a lot of students

Questions:
Do you have many/ a lot of friends?

Uncountable:
Affirmative:
We have a little/ a lot time
Negative:
Teachers don’t make a lot of /much money
Questions:
Did you have much/ a lot of fun?

Exercise 1:
Underline the correct option.
1. I need a little/a few help. I can’t do this exercise!
2. She’s only been here a month but she has a few/a little friends.
3. They drank a lot of / a little water after the marathon. They were really thirsty.
4. Hurry up! We don’t have much/many time.

Exercise 2: page 66, exercise 3 a and b.
Exercise 3: Write 10 sentences using quatifiers.

4. Grammar: Already and yet.

We often use already and yet with the present perfect. Already and yet mean before now. Already is used in affirmative sentences and it goes before the past participle. Yet is used in questions and negative sentences and it goes at the end of the sentence.
Examples:
They‘ve already had lunch.
She’s already cleaned her room.
I haven’t watered the plants yet.
Have you made your bed yet?

Exercise 4: exercise 5 a and b (Individually, work on (A) in the book, write (B) in your notebook)
Exercise 5: write 5 sentences with yet and 5 with already in your notebook.

5. Homework: Workbook Unit 6 lesson 1.
